Mullineux Syrah Swarland 2022

Winemaker Tasting Notes: Our Mullineux Syrah has become synonymous with its hallmark Swartland perfume of plush blackberries, violets and black olive tapenade. With the quartz soil parcel, this wine has an added layer of freshness combined with a complex, textured mid-palate provided by the granite, schist and iron terroirs. The palate is rich with velvety tannins, multilayered red fruit, citrus rind and baking spice notes on the finish.

100% Syrah. Sourced from a combination of different soils: quartz-based soils from the Mullineux’s Kasteelberg vineyard, stony schist-based soils on the mid-slopes of Kasteelberg, decomposed granitic soils of the Paardeberg, and iron-rich soils north of Malmesbury.

Hand harvested in the early morning at each vineyard site. Crushed 80% whole cluster to ensure the best expression of its unique Swartland terroir. Aged close to 2 years in 500L neutral French Oak.
