A nose of fresh black cherries, dusty raspberries, cocoa powder, lilacs, and cool minerals lead into unctuous layers of warm cassis, black raspberries, and currant. The mid-palate is dense and expressive, full of fresh berries and exotic spices, all leading to a soft and plush finish.
80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. The wine was fermented in neutral French oak, and left to age in the same vessels for 18 months prior to bottling.
The fruit for this wine came from Yountville, the birthplace of wine in the Napa Valley as it was first planted by George Calvert Yount in 1836. One of the coolest wine regions in Napa Valley, its long growing season and diverse soil composition produces fruit of exceptional structure and complexity, known for varietal wines that have the capability of aging well in the bottle.
